Eyelid Tumours: What Every Patient Should Know
The skin of the eyelids is delicate and can be prone to various growths. While most are benign, it’s important to recognize the signs that may indicate something more serious.
The Most Common Types
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common form of eyelid cancer. It often appears as a small, firm lump that may have a pearl-like border and sometimes bleeds or crusts. Squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma are less common but can be more aggressive.
Early Detection Saves Sight
The goal of treatment is to remove the tumour completely while preserving as much of the eyelid’s function and appearance as possible. Early detection means smaller removals and simpler reconstruction.
